Summer Camp 2018

Superhero Me welcomed 12 mainstream primary school art and music teachers from MOE’s Singapore Teachers Academy for the Arts (STAR) on a four-day job attachment. Our mission was to helm a three-day inclusive arts camp for 28 children of all abilities. It was a deep dive into our approach of facilitating an inclusive classroom. The teachers learnt strategies to support children through their journey and were supported by veteran Captains. A packed programme of costume crafting, games and theatre activities allowed children to acknowledge their differences and learn how to work together. It was a good mess, as any inclusive endeavour is, that enabled all parties involved to experience how the arts could foster friendships and strengthen appreciation for diversity.
